Christmas is a time for magic and wonder, a time to celebrate, be merry and act like a child again. Christmas is different everywhere in the world and while that does not mean celebrating the holiday in one place is better than the other, there are some places in particular that make the holiday all the more special. South America is a huge place with some fantastic areas to spend your Christmas holiday.

Located between Rio and Sao Paulo, this little city may not sound like much, but if you are after a romantic and beautiful Christmas then this is the place to go. Christmas in Buenos Aires resembles New Years Eve in many other countries. Complete with fireworks, bonfires, firecrackers, blasting music, chanting and the list can go on. 7. Cuenca, Ecuador
The Christmas pageant in Cuenca, also locally called Pase del Niño Viajero, is the biggest Christmas festivity in the whole country. There is a parade, dancing, live music and Christmas cheer. It may not be what you are used to, but it is all about remembering the journey made by Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem and spending time with friends and family.
